UTG Recon Flex Bipod

hey what's up guys welcome back to cold dead hands today I'm gonna be talking about the Recon Flex bipod by utg I've owned some utg stuff over the years I still have some stuff that I use some of their stuff is made in China the stuff that is mean China is actually not bad I haven't bought anything made by them that was garbage some of their stuff their

Pro Series um is made in the US I run their slim by are they're slim hand rails on my 300 like out and my other ar-15 and I decided to get this bipod because this is a new rifle that I'm building setting this up for long range mainly shooting in the prone position I hand load so I have some 80 grain loads that I'm gonna shoot through this to keep them stabilized out past

Our yards and this is a 1 7 twist on the barrel so it will stabilize the heavier bullet and I wanted a bipod that was gonna be up closer towards the side of the hand rail I don't particularly care for by pods that hang off the bottom I just don't like them I have a Harris 5 H on or I'm sorry not a Harrison Atlas I have an atlas 5 H on my throne or Win Mag and it does connect on the bottom but if you've ever seen the 5 H it comes off

Bipod
The bottom and it actually goes up on the sides and then comes down so it's Center I wouldn't say center gravity but it's the center of where the legs come out rather is is up higher towards the handguard and I like that I got this for 48 bucks on ebay it came in two days

I like order and stuff when he may cuz it comes quick and this this was no exception it's made very well it was super easy to put on is M log and it does come with an extra fixture and screw in case you drop on on your carpet and you can't find it and it's Murphy's

Law with when you drop shit you swear that it hits right at your feet but actually what it does is when it hits at your feet it bounces nine or ten feet to the other side of the room and it goes behind something that's what usually happens I have so many Springs and detents and screws all over the floor and this in my office here that I could probably put together an entire lower with all the shit that's on the floor that I never found and it's in various places in the corners behind

Shit that's where it usually goes so in case say you're like being you have Springs fly in the detents and screws being lost you have an extra one so the way that this opens is you simply pull it out what it does is it locks and then you have a thumb screw right here that you turn to lock it now to retract the legs you're gonna push on this you're gonna push on that right there make sure it's unscrewed push it

Now the way that now actually you know why they just figured something out so these these thumb screws here are to tighten when it's in the retracted position since these pull out just by pulling them out you don't have to push this it would make sense that these locks are for when they're in that retracted position now the way the way that these close up towards the

Handguard there's five positions and you're gonna pull on this right here and it's pretty stiff it feels sturdy it is not loose there's absolutely no play in any of the positions on this this mount right here it's pretty damn stable of course it's gonna move a tiny little bit

But I mean it's in there so what I did was I put it right here a little bit further back on the handguard that way I can still shoot this standing up and what's cool about this is you can also put this all the way forward and you can hold it back here if you want like this or like this just depends on how you're shooting or how you like to shoot I tend to primarily grab up towards the muzzle

Because I get that we target acquisition and get back on target quicker and it mitigates some of the muzzle rise so I tend to grip it upfront here I don't generally use grips like vertical grips or angle grips I like to just grab onto the handrail I like to get my hand all the way around it like that so I like to leave this open up here and this is allowing me

I said before I didn't want it hanging off the bottom and I like the way that this connects just on the side of the handrail here it
